Che Shale hotel has been called one of Kenya Coast’s best-kept secrets by many of our guests and travel magazines. Surfing - Malindi is the best spot on the Kenyan coast for surfing. The outer reefs attract a large swell all year round.
SCUBA Diving and Snorkeling - here are several world-class dive sites on the North Coast. Diving is good all year round, although visibility lessens during July and August due to silting and high seas. One of the best sites is in the Watamu Marine National Park
Sabaki River Mouth - Ever seen hippos surfing? The Sabaki river is on the way to Malindi and right where the river enters the sea, hippos can often be spotted gamboling in the surf.
Watamu and Malindi Marine Parks - These parks were established in 1968 and are the first of their kind in Africa. The ocean blue waters here host a wide variety of corals.
Snake & Crocodile Farm - The Bioken Laboratory and Snake Farm is located about 2 kilometres north of Watamu and is internationally known for having the biggest collection of snakes in Africa.
Kajama Beach Bandas opened in 2006 and they are our latest rustic and really chilled banda concept just a short walk from Che Shale on our same beautiful wide beach.
We designed Kajama Beach Bandas to offer an alternative to the budget-conscious traveler or to those who want to be able to come and stay with us for an extended period of time without breaking the bank.
There is even a designated area where guests can bring their tent and camp at Kajama while enjoying the same facilities such as barbecue, showers, and dining tables.
