Chesale Hotel

Malindi - Kenya

Che Shale Hotel is one of Kenya’s most well-known boutique beach hotels situated on a point between two deserted bays, sheltered by a fringing coral reef and secluded in thousands of coconut trees and lush indigenous vegetation.
We have been on the hotels map for 30 years. Guests come back every year for a genuine barefoot luxury relaxation, but also for a vibrant beach scene during peak season.
Miles of wide empty beaches, stylish accommodations, fresh delicious cuisine, evening bonfires on the beach, and a myriad of activities from deep-sea fishing to Kitesurfing just to name a few.
Che Shale resort is also renowned for being the pioneer of Kite surfing in Malindi as well as the #1 kite surf spot with ideal conditions for learners and experienced kiters alike. So, kick your shoes and come to Che Shale hotel to unwind and de-stress on our beautiful beach.

Che Shale hotel has been called one of Kenya Coast’s best-kept secrets by many of our guests and travel magazines. If your idea of the perfect holiday is a combination of long walks on miles of empty beach, lounging in a stylish hotel open to the Indian ocean breeze, falling asleep to the sound of the waves and savoring delicious seafood, then you have found what Che Shale is all about.

Che Shale Hotel is located on the Kenyan coast, we are right on the beach and we are the only hotel located on our beautiful 5 km bay. The resort is a two-hour drive from Mombasa and a twenty-minute drive from Malindi. You will need a four-wheel drive vehicle for the last three kms of sand tracks that lead to Che Shale. If you do not have a four-wheel drive, Che Shale will send a Land Rover to pick you up at the end of the tarmac road.

Che Shale hotel Activities
Kitesurfing at Che Shale - Our beach has been blessed with the most ideal conditions for kite surf learners and expert riders alike.

Deep Sea Fishing - a seasonal activity, which is extremely popular and excellent here in Malindi. Che Shale can organize deep-sea fishing trips.
Surfing - Malindi is the best spot on the Kenyan coast for surfing. The outer reefs  attract a large swell all year round.

SCUBA Diving and Snorkeling - here are several world-class dive sites on the North Coast. Diving is good all year round, although visibility lessens during July and August due to silting and high seas. One of the best sites is in the Watamu Marine National Park

Sabaki River Mouth - Ever seen hippos surfing? The Sabaki river is on the way to Malindi and right where the river enters the sea, hippos can often be spotted gamboling in the surf.

Watamu and Malindi Marine Parks - These parks were established in 1968 and are the first of their kind in Africa. The ocean blue waters here host a wide variety of corals.

Snake & Crocodile Farm - The Bioken Laboratory and Snake Farm is located about 2 kilometres north of Watamu and is internationally known for having the biggest collection of snakes in Africa.

Kajama Beach Bandas opened in 2006 and they are our latest rustic and really chilled banda concept just a short walk from Che Shale on our same beautiful wide beach.

We designed Kajama Beach Bandas to offer an alternative to the budget-conscious traveler or to those who want to be able to come and stay with us for an extended period of time without breaking the bank.

There is even a designated area where guests can bring their tent and camp at Kajama while enjoying the same facilities such as barbecue, showers, and dining tables.
