A tour during the animal migration is simply amazing. It's certainly worth timing your trip to see this if you can. The staffs are charming and very welcoming. Whilst we were there, guests wanted to witness a crossing, and so the camp stationed a team member with a radio on the river bank during lunchtime, to alert dining guests in case of a crossing. However, don't dismiss the idea of coming to Sayari camp when the migration is not here, as you'll find plenty of game.
Fly camping is a wonderful way to sleep under the stars and enjoy the pure tranquility and raw excitement of the bush; the ten foot square tents made of heavy duty mosquito mesh ensure that you are close to nature but apart from only bugs. Fly camping in the Serengeti eco-system is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The freedom of movement, the intimacy of the light camp and the thrill of being so close to nature is the pinnacle of many guests' safaris.

The camp is light enough to move easily and strike quickly, but still retains the everyday luxuries that characterize Asilia's tented Camps - hot showers, comfortable bedding and cold drinks served with gourmet food. Sayari Camp is a seasonal camp that follows the migration.
It is located in Piaya, in the southern plains from January to April, moves to the Mara River area (northwestern Serengeti) for June to September and is based in Soit Sambu in the northeastern part of the Serengeti from October to mid-January (the camp is closed during April and May, the season of the long rains).
The locations of the camp are all located near the border of the national park. Mara is just inside the park while Piaya and Soit Sambu are just outside the park, to allow for the superior combination of premier wildlife viewing, walking safaris, and interaction with local Masai culture.

This is currently the only mobile permanent camp in the area, although there are some excellent seasonal ones, including Nomad's Serengeti Mara camp which, whilst simpler by design, is much smaller at 12 beds and guarantees private cars & guides. Having itself been seasonal for its first two years of operation, Sayari camp has just undergone a major renovation and is now a properly established presence in the area.
Strung along a fairly open ridge, the huge tents all have long views towards the Mara River about a kilometer to the north. The sleeping tents are all stylish and contemporary in design, perched on wooden platforms and all with king sized beds and small private balconies.
The en suite bathrooms have standing baths so one assumes there's a huge and reliable water supply somewhere close by. This area still has relatively little traffic

and remains largely unspoilt. It changes character quite dramatically from the increasingly hectic dry season, when the wildebeest herds are almost certainly going to be within reach of the camp. With luck there will be a good chance of seeing them crossing the Mara River, with the attendant croc and vulture action that follows on from that. Sayari's remote location means game drives without meeting other vehicles and there's a genuine wilderness atmosphere here.
Depending on your Tanzania safari itinerary you can transfer here by road, or there is an airstrip a 5-minute drive away. Sayari Camp offers special honeymoon packages with all that honeymooners could wish for. Private weddings can be arranged at breathtaking locations in the Serengeti. Honeymoon packages can include other Asilia destinations to create an unforgettable honeymoon in Tanzania, combining an exclusive and intimate safari with a romantic stay at Matemwe Bungalows, enjoying Zanzibar's most beautiful beaches.
