City walk in Arusha - On this tour you will get an idea of day-to-day life in one of the most colourful cities of Tanzania. People of many different tribes and religions live together in Arusha. Local Masai markets - On Masai market days many Masai gather to buy and sell cattle and all kinds of goods. It is a social gathering as well. You will get a first glimpse of Masai life here. Take a look at traditional tools, enjoy the colourful outfits, get an insight in traditional Masai medicine, see how cattle is being inspected and sold, observe a goat being slaughtered and taste the nyama choma ya mbuzi (grilled goat meat). Visit a traditional Masai Boma - Local transport brings you in about 1 hour and 45 min from Arusha to Monduli Juu, 50 kms northwest of Arusha town. From there it's a short distance to Emairete, where the tour starts. Emairete consists of a wonderful

crater where, in former times, only medicine

men were supposed to graze their cattle. You guide will bring you to up hill to the boma of midwife Mama Oletiambuti. She will explain you all about traditional Masai way of living: the importance of cattle, greetings, behavior, clothes, traditional medicines, the structure of a boma,...

Lake Duluti nature walk - Hop in a dala dala (local transport) that brings you in 20 min to Tengeru, a lively village along the Moshi-Arusha road. You'll find yourself in the middle of a beautiful green countryside.
Your guide takes you through abundant coffee and banana plantations and on a relaxing walk around Lake Duluti Forest Reserve. You'll identify the many different bird species that can be found here. The walk ends in the village, where you can enjoy a refreshing drink in a local bar and try a chips mayai (chips in an omelet) or a delicious nyama choma, the typical Tanzanian barbeque. On Wednesdays and Saturdays, you can also take a stroll through the interesting local market.

This relatively new lodge lies in the shadow of Mount Meru immediately outside the southern boundary of the park.
