Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge |
|
Volcanoes Bwindi Lodge hotel overlooks the magnificent Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to Mountain gorillas, monkeys, chimpanzees primates and birds. This pocket of primeval forest is one of the most biologically diverse areas on earth and has been designated a World Heritage Site.
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has 4 habituated gorilla families. The gorillas live in thick tropical forest and tracking is quite challenging as the hillsides are steep, but the rewards are great. Other activities include nature walks in search of the birds, monkeys and orchids. Alternatively you can go for short strolls around the lodge and explore the village.
Volcanoes Bwindi lodge hotel is built and run on ecological principles. Using local materials, natural energy sources such as solar power and controlling water consumption reduces the negative impact on the environment.
The luxury camp in bwindi Forest has a natural, warm and welcoming air and your needs are looked after by carefully trained staff recruited from local communities. After a day's tracking you can have a well-deserved massage or buy a souvenir in the lodge gift shop.

Volcanoes Lodge hotel at Bwindi Forest is on the edge of Buhoma village alongside Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the far west of Uganda. The lodge is set on a hillside above a river, overlooking lush rainforest opposite. It is the perfect base for visits to the national park and as a starting point for gorilla tracking.
The Bwindi lodge's hotel accommodation is in eight large beautifully constructed thatched cottages with en-suite facilities. The 'bucket' shower and 'long-drop' toilet are practical and similar to those found in remote safari camps. Each of the cottages has its own verandah which, like the bar and dining room, looks across to the forested hillside on the opposite bank.
More than half the world's wild mountain gorilla population is resident in Bwindi Forest, with a number of habituated groups which can be visited as part of the national park's regulated tracking programme. Although this is the reason most guests come to Bwindi the park is home to ninety three mammal species, including eleven types of primate, as well as almost 350 types of birds. These animals and birds can be viewed on varied lengths of nature walks alongside a knowledgeable National Park's guide.
